Professor Carol Norton is leading a study abroad trip this summer to Barcelona, Spain. The course is called Communication and Global Competence in Barcelona and is for three credits. Pro Tips from the News Pros — A panel of recent journalism/new media alums will share how they got their jobs and what it’s like working in journalism today. You will have a chance to sit down with the alums informally and get advice. This is a great opportunity for first hand knowledge of what it’s like to be a young working journalist in the 21st century. This panel will be on Wednesday, April 19 in UU Potomac Room from 5:30 – 7 p.m.
Press Freedom in the Trump Era — Jeff Ballou is an editor at Al Jazeera Media Network and the newly elected president of the National Press Club. He will be talking about press freedom and the challenges journalists are facing in the Trump era. This event is Thursday, April 27 at 7 p.m. in the CA Recital Hall.
The Baltimore County Department of Aging (BCDA) has an opportunity for an intern to write articles for BCDA’s newspaper, Senior Digest. The Senior Digest is a subscriber based newspaper published by the BCDA.
Prospective candidates should:
- have the ability to write stories based on research, information provided as well as on-site interviews.
- have their own transportation
- be a junior or senior
